Application popup: SquareLine_Studio.exe - Entry Point Not Found : The procedure entry point SetThreadDescription could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\SquareLine Studio 1.5.3\UnityPlayer.dll.
Hi, his issue is not related to Visual C++ or antivirus software.
The error indicates that the Windows API function SetThreadDescription is missing on your system. This function is required by the Unity engine used by SquareLine Studio.
Recommended steps:
Press Win + R, type winver, and verify your Windows 10 version and build number
Update Windows 10 to a newer build (Anniversary Update / version 1607 or later) using Windows Update
Restart your PC after the update and launch SquareLine Studio again
Please avoid the following:
Do not download or manually replace UnityPlayer.dll from third-party websites
Do not use “DLL fix” utilities
Reinstalling Visual C++ redistributables will not resolve this issue
Updating the operating system should resolve the problem.
Windows 10 version 1607 is not a current Windows 10 feature release.
The update you installed (KB5071543) only provides security and stability fixes for version 1607, but it does not add newer system APIs.
SquareLine Studio requires Windows system functions that are not available in Windows 10 version 1607, even when all cumulative updates are installed. Because of this, the application cannot start on that version of Windows.
Recommended action:
Upgrade Windows 10 to a newer feature version (for example 21H2 or 22H2) using Microsoft’s Update Assistant or Media Creation Tool
Restart the system after the upgrade and launch SquareLine Studio again
Please note:
Remaining on Windows 10 1607 is not supported for current application releases
Reinstalling Visual C++ packages or replacing DLL files will not resolve this issue on that Windows version
Upgrading the Windows feature version should resolve the problem.
