How to scroll horizontally as in Tutorial 9 (Flex)

What do you want to achieve?

The Flex tutorial shows how you can scroll right/left to items off the physical screen. Neat. But I have not found documentation on how to achieve this? I am sure this is a rtfm situation. Pointer please?

What have you tried so far?

Tried flex for screen and adding buttons until off screen. Set some scrolling flags (but not arrow). But generated code created a screen2 that is not in the hierarchy within SL and failed the compile.
